Frozen Dream of Time

Description

Sleeping Infinity: A Handcarved Abstract Driftwood Sculpture

Time doesn’t flow here — it has curled up and fallen asleep. This handcarved abstract driftwood sculpture bends into the recognizable shape of an infinity sign: one half of the form flows into the other, which coils into a loop and returns again, never finding a point where the motion could stop.

A Loop Without a Beginning

This is a loop without a beginning, a closed gesture endlessly repeating itself — an image of time not as an arrow, but as a ring, where past and future are indistinguishable from one another.

The Core of the Sleep

At the center of one of the coils is a dark, round opening. Not an eye, not emptiness in the ordinary sense, but the very core of the sleep: a point where the ring pauses for a moment before continuing its endless turn. Cut through with cracks, the rough surface of the sea-worn wood works like skin, wrinkled by centuries of sleep — proof not of decay, but of long, undisturbed rest.

Floating Above Gravity

The sculpture floats on two thin steel supports, barely touching the ground — as if the form itself were too light for gravity, too immersed in its own dream to finally settle into reality. This handcarved abstract driftwood sculpture exists in the space between sleep and waking, suspended like a thought that hasn’t yet decided whether to wake up.

“Time forgot that it moves,
and fell asleep in this root.
Now it watches us,
but does not recognize us.”
