Frozen Dream of Time

A driftwood sculpture on steel supports — a frozen metaphor of infinity and the eternal cycle of time.

Description

“Time forgot that it moves and fell asleep in this root. And now it watches us, but does not recognize.”
This is neither a tree nor a wave. It is matter that has refused to obey the laws of nature. In its contours, one can discern the sign of infinity (∞) — a loop that has lost its direction: the left part flows smoothly into the right, the right twists into a funnel and returns back, closing the cycle like a snake biting its own tail. The texture, scarred by time, only emphasizes this idea of eternal circulation.
The round hole on the right side is not an eye, but a singularity. It is the point where matter compresses to infinite density, and the familiar flow of time stops forever. It is there, into this dark abyss, that the closed loop disappears, leaving no hope of escape. The sculpture hovers on two thin steel supports in absolute blackness, creating the illusion that it does not stand on the ground, but hangs suspended between sleep and wakefulness — like an object that has just crossed the boundary of reality and exists simultaneously in the past, present, and future.
Executed in the aesthetics of wabi-sabi, the work balances on the edge between a natural artifact and a surrealist statement. The rough, living texture of driftwood combines with the metaphorical depth of the image, eluding logical interpretation. This is not just a sculpture. It is a frozen thought, eternity curled into a ring — a dream that forgot it was supposed to end.
