Moment, Not Motion

Creating this abstract sculpture from an old olive branch, I worked with a single moment, not an entire motion. This olive branch is caught mid-rise, sharp and uneven — suspended between what has already happened and what hasn’t yet been decided. The upper fork splits into two slender points: read them as a wing, or simply as the direction the wood was reaching toward.

Asymmetry as Principle

Asymmetry is essential here, not incidental. The severed stub marks a path that was abandoned. The upward curve marks the one that remained. I don’t resolve them into a single meaning — the moment of choice itself stays suspended between them, decided in neither direction.

The Base: Weightlessness Instead of Support

I keep the white stone base flat and almost weightless — it visually lifts the form off the ground, sharpening the sense of suspension between stillness and momentum.
