On the Edge of Flight

An olive branch, frozen between what already happened and what hasn’t yet been decided. The severed offshoot — the path left behind.

Description

I work with the moment, not the movement in its entirety. This olive branch is frozen mid-ascent — sharp, uneven — suspended between what has already happened and what has not yet been decided. The upper fork splits into two slender rays: read them as a wing, or simply as the direction the wood is reaching toward — either way holds.

The asymmetry here is essential. The severed offshoot is the trace of a path left behind. The upward-reaching curve is the path that remained. I don’t resolve them into a single meaning — the moment of choice itself lives between them, unsettled, tipping toward neither side.

I keep the white stone base flat and nearly weightless — it visually lifts the form off the ground, sharpening the sense of something suspended between stillness and impulse.
