This handcarved abstract olive wood sculpture feels like a shadow that grew tired of being flat and decided to gain volume. Or a thought caught halfway between two images — no longer quite a bird, not yet quite a beast. It seems about to choose something else entirely, something that doesn’t yet exist in nature.

A Form Pulled From Sleep

The form stands crooked, as if pulled from sleep before it could settle into its final shape. The upper mass looms, heavy and curious, like the head of a creature opening its eyes for the first time. It seems to be figuring out which way is up.

A Body Still Arguing With Itself

Below it, the body branches outward, as if the roots are still arguing with the trunk about which way to grow.

Cracks as the Edge of Waking Life

Dark cracks cut across the pale wood, like fractures on the surface of a dream — the places where reality begins to seep through. The wood here doesn’t pretend to be a living creature, nor does it remain simply wood. It hangs suspended in between, in the zone where surrealism begins: where the familiar stops feeling reliable, and the impossible suddenly gains weight and shadow.
