Free Flight

Outstretched wings of driftwood and a steel arc — the asymmetric balance of freedom, wind and eternal motion. ‘Archipelago of Oblivion’ series.

Description

In this sculpture a dynamic and recognisable image is born — outstretched wings, a soaring bird or an ancient longship surging forward. Its base is a massive, textured piece of driftwood whose natural shape already carries a powerful energy of motion. Above it, in an elegant arc, a graphic steel rod has frozen, recalling the flourish of a quill or the tail of a celestial body.

Every crack here is not a flaw but a map of the tree’s life. The rough layers of wood, worn smooth by water, enter into a piercing contact with the cold, perfectly fluid metal curl. The slender vertical stand with its base of rough welded seam honestly reveals the hand of the maker — not trying to hide the technology, but rather emphasising the unity of the natural and the man-made.

The sculpture hovers in space, demonstrating asymmetric balance and a flight of imagination. It is a perfect accent for modern, laconic interiors, filling the space with a sense of freedom, wind and a touch of the eternal.
