Silent Passage

It is moving. You can see it.

There are no motors in this sculpture, no gears, no explicit sign of life. But there is rhythm — a line that stretches from the left edge to the right, twisting, breaking apart, and gathering again into a single flow. “Silent Passage” is an attempt to convey movement without sound: something nameless simply gliding, soundless and unstoppable.

The winding grain of the olive wood here does not resolve into a specific body, but into current itself — water flows cut through by something invisible. An open jaw, a dark eye socket, taut strands of fiber on the right — all of it reads as the features of a creature, and just as quickly dissolves back into abstraction the moment your gaze shifts. The sculpture does not tell you what it is. It says: “Listen to the silence. Do you hear it? That was me, passing by.”

The work is carved from a solid mass of old olive wood, preserving its natural flaws and cracks. The long horizontal composition creates the illusion of continuous, utterly silent movement, as though the object were gliding through water without disturbing its stillness. The natural grain of the wood becomes a dynamic abstraction, balanced between recognizable form and a philosophical statement on time and silence.

In a soundless glide,
Tentacles remember waves—
Time stands frozen still.
